Spencer, NC Graded School
Description
The first public school in Spencer was a wood frame structure built in 1901, but the school quickly outgrew that building, and a brick building was erected in 1906. The two-story, three-bay brick building had a truncated hip roof and a centrally-located, slightly projecting pavilion topped by a curvilinear gable inspired by the Spanish Mission style. The building was destroyed by fire in 1925.
